Medicar European Private Medical Transport choose Cleanitise

Medicar European are specialists in the transport of sick and injured patients over long distances, bespoke ambulances created to provide a quiet, comfortable and secure journey without compromise of clinical care.

Medicar European clients include most of the major medical assistance companies, the NHS & Primary Care Trusts, private and corporate companies, private individuals, VIP’s, hospitals and UK and European government agencies.

Medicar European is one of only two private ambulance companies to hold an account with Eurotunnel, allowing them to travel Flexi-plus with priority loading reducing waiting times to the minimal, aiding in the quick and comfortable repatriation of patients.

All vehicles are equipped to a high base level, then supplemented with specialist equipment depending upon the patient’s condition. Their Iveco’s ambulances are high dependency units designed to accommodate 1-2 stretchers or an incubator, up to six seated patients, two wheelchairs, and a crew of two. Power stretcher lifts and full medical facilities make these vehicles ideal for the transport of cardiac, spinal, post-operation and family units.

Medicar European has chosen Cleanitise and the Cleanitise Fogger for infection control and the cleaning and decontamination of their ambulance units. The Cleanitise ambulance cleaning and disinfection fogging system is highly effective as its fine vapour accesses all surfaces and fixtures and fitting killing all surface bacteria leaving the ambulance contaminate free.

Cleanitise tested for MRSA Infection Control

Consultant microbiologist, D C Watson BSc, CBiol, MIBiol, MIFST, ACIEHO, ARSM of Abbott Analytical – the Consulting Scientists to the Disinfectant Industry, has recently conducted tests with Cleanitise, the All Purpose Surface Cleaner, Sanitiser and Degreaser, for antimicrobial efficacy against Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).  After testing for MRSA infection control he said:

Cleanitise All Purpose Surface Cleaner, Sanitiser and Degreaser has been tested for antimicrobial efficacy against C (MRSA) using standard EU protocols in this laboratory. It has been found to be extremely effective when diluted to 10% volume in hard water giving a total kill after five minutes, with an initial inoculum of greater than 100 million (108) bacteria per millilitre of test suspension.
Because MRSA is a particularly difficult organism to kill with standard sanitisers it’s success as a persistent pathogen in the hospital environment is largely due to ineffective cleaning and lack of residual activity on surfaces and it’s removal requires aggressive action by these chemicals. The organism is spread not only from human to human but also to all surfaces touched by contaminated hands. Cleanitise not only has this aggressive activity on MRSA but has also been shown to have a residual effect on surfaces for several hours after application and this will help to reduce the colonisation of MRSA on surfaces and hence the spread of the organism in the hospital environment.

After the tests for MRSA infection control were completed and the positive results confirmed, it was recommended that a back-up of an EN13697 surface test using MRSA to support these finding should be conducted. These tests have now been commissioned and we are awaiting the results. It is anticipated that these test results will confirm that Cleanitise is the ideal hospital cleaning product for regular cleaning of wards, equipment etc in order to reduce the spread of MRSA and infection control.

Cleanitise Ambulance Cleaning

Ambulance Cleaning and Disinfection

Amongst the many major challenges within a hospital environment is to reduce the level of opportunities for cross contamination and therefore they need to establish some preventative methods for reducing contaminates from being introduced to the hospital environment from outside sources.

It has been established that one key area that needs to be addressed is the cleaning and decontamination of the ambulance units. Cleanitise is the perfect product for ambulance cleaning and disinfection.

These units are in almost continuous use and transport many different patients who are suffering with a multitude of illnesses and injuries.

The first line of defence requires the areas that have been in contact with each patient should be sanitised using Cleanitise in conjunction with micro fibre systems.

The ambulance unit should also receive a regular decontamination of all internal surfaces using Cleanitise through a fogging system as shown in the Cleanitise ambulance cleaning and disinfection video.

Swabs are taken prior to fogging in order to establish the level of contamination and these can be established immediately with a hand held reader as well as a visual audit using the Black Light technology.

The Cleanitise ambulance cleaning and disinfection fogging system is highly effective as its fine vapour accesses all surfaces and fixtures and fittings killing all surface bacteria leaving the ambulance contaminate free. Care must be taken to always ware safety glasses and a face mask when using the fogging machine.

Upon completion of the ambulance cleaning and decontamination process swabs are re taken and checked again using both the hand held unit and Black Light system enabling the operatives to confirm that the ambulance unit is fit for service immediately without the delay of waiting for laboratory test results.

Contract cleaners now have the opportunity to utilise this technology.

Step 1
View all areas first with the naked eye.

Step 2
Strategically place the UV light warning sign.

Step 3
Wear the UV Glasses and reinspect the above areas with the flourescent light, lights out, blinds and curtains closed – using the UV light to highlight any protein and any other unclean areas.

Step 4
Return with the Cleanitise pre-dilited hand spray or mopping system using microfibe technology clean all unclear areas to perfection.

Step 5
Re-inspect all the areas wearing UV protection glasses and UV black light technology.
